When you sign up for Level 2, you will be provided with a bird and will now be able to put everything you have learnt into practice under the close supervision of our instructor. Over the next 6 months, you will attend private and group classes and learn how to make essential basic falconry equipment.  In addition, students will be taken out on a hunt for the opportunity to gain knowledge of field etiquette and some hunting strategies.

 

If at any time you feel you need a top up on a particular subject, you will also be able to join any of the Level 1 theoretical classes throughout the duration of the course.

 

In order to be awarded the Bahrain Falconry School Level 2 certificate, you will also be required to house the bird provided under the strict rules and guidelines of our instructor. A daily log and diary entry is to be filled out which will allow us to keep an eye on your progress as well as the birds health. If at any time we feel that you are not complying with the rules and/or instructions given, the bird will be confiscated and you will not be awarded the Level 2 certificate.

 

Level 2 sessions take place Mondays and Wednesdays approximately 2 hours before sunset.* Attendance of a Level 1 group session on either a Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday is also required.

 

The start date for this course is to be announced shortly.

 

Before signing up for Level 2 we ask you to make sure that you can meet the time commitment. A falcon requires near-constant care with no days off or holidays. This usually amounts to about half an hour each day, every day, not including the time you will spend training the bird. It is also important that you consider the space that is needed to house a bird. If, due to time and/or space restrictions, you cannot house a bird, an exception can be made however, you will not be awarded our Level 2 certificate in full.

 

Once the skills for each of these sessions are marked off in your Log Book and you have passed the written and practical tests, you will have completed your Level 2 Certification Course and will be considered a General Class Falconer.
